The purpose of the Nursing Home ministry is to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ as we minister to our semi-and permanently displayed seniors living in skilled nursing facilities. Many, once active members in a local assembly, are unable to attend Christ-centered worship services on a consistent basis, if at all, due to their health challenges, loss of independence, and mobility restraints. Even with companionship visits from family members, often their “spiritual” needs go unmet once nourished by regular church attendance.
We, at Raleigh International Church, recognize we have a responsibility to visit the sick, for Jesus’ said, “assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” (Matthew 25:35-40). Today, as the senior population increases, more seniors are literally detached from their familiar home and worship environments. These precious souls, and co-laborers in Christ, (even the presently unreached), need to know that God still has a plan and purpose for their lives.
Through the sharing of the gospel, praise and worship, we desire to nurture our seniors spiritually, and provide an opportunity for them to fellowship with New Testament Believers. As the hand and feet of Jesus in the earth, the Bible teaches us that “pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble.” (James 1:27) Raleigh International Church has purposed to fulfill this scripture, and the great commission to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15).
